Safety Measures

As National Gas Company being involved in the LPG business, Safety is always paramount concern for us.  The health, safety and security of employees, contractors, customers and the general public is of prime importance. It is our primary responsibility to ensure that all our internal and external customers who are involved in operating, transporting, selling and using LP Gas is aware of how to do so safely and securely.

With well-established HSE system and practices that ensure the safety of employees, contractors and consumers at all times, National Gas Company achieved the coveted certification of ISO- 9001:2008 Quality Management system , ISO -14001:2004 Environment Management System and OHSAS 18001 : 2007 Health and Safety  management System  to accord highest priority of safety. Being the pioneering company in LPG led by examples we always remain ready to handle any kind of emergency either on road or on customer premises.

Consumer awareness

National Gas has a comprehensive consumer awareness programme aimed at raising safety levels at two vital points that are traditionally beyond the direct control of bottling companies  One in-- consumer homes and two - within the distribution network.

To create Safety awareness among the customers, National Gas has taken following concrete steps in past and will maintain same momentum in future also.

  • Safety Tips were circulated with every cylinder to inform and aware  consumers about basic cylinder safety issues.
  • Periodical distribution of Safety leaflets and organized Road Shows in the capital region and in the interiors with the  support of  ROP and Civil Defence in order to educate consumers about basic gas usage, safety and emergency information.
  • Organized various safety competition and contests at school level  as part of  “ Safety Pays “ campaign to build awareness among children and students , regarding the importance of being safe at work, home and on the road.

National Gas and Civil Defence are also jointly developing a Safety Training program for Distributors on cylinder handling, installation and emergency actions. We feel that these efforts will go a long way in raising the safe and efficient use of LPG in homes and commercial establishments.

National Gas is also keen to raise the profile of LPG from being merely a household cooking fuel, to its true status as a clean, convenient and reliable alternative to polluting fuels. Internationally, these advantages of LPG are being utilized fruitfully and we aim to adapt the latest technologies to unleash the full potential of LPG to add value and benefit to the local community and industry.

National Gas is committed to meet and exceed its customers’ satisfaction in terms of product and services offered. This is enhanced through continually improving the management system through corrective and preventive measures.

National Gas is also committed to protecting the health and safety of everybody who plays a part in our operations, lives in the communities in which we operate or use our products. Wherever we operate, we will conduct our business with respect and care for both the local and global environment and systematically manage risks to drive sustainable business growth. We will not be satisfied until we succeed in eliminating all injuries, occupational illnesses, unsafe practices and pollution. We also shall strive to effectively use the resource and abide by the applicable legal & regulatory principles.

  • Manage all projects, products and processes through their life-cycles in a way that protects safety and health and minimizes impacts on the environment.
  • Provide employees with the capabilities, knowledge and resources necessary to instill personal ownership and motivation to achieve QHSE excellence.
  • Provide relevant safety and health information to contractors and require them to provide proper training for the safe, environmentally sound performance of their work.
  • Measure, audit and report QHSE performance and maintain open dialogue with stakeholder groups and with communities where we operate.
  • Work with both governments and stakeholders where we operate to develop and identify regulations and standards that improve the Quality, Safety and Health of product, people and the environment respectively through constant feedbacks, consultation and participation and abiding by the same.
  • Maintain a secure work environment to protect ourselves, our contractors and the company's assets from risks of injury, property loss or damage resulting from hostile acts.
  • Communicate our commitment to this policy to our subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors and governments and seek their support.
